Philip Anderson from USA

What model Shrike did you choose?
Shrike Too

What modifications, if any, did you make to the design described in the Build Manual?
Maroske deck fittings, carbon fiber keyhole cockpit. Beckson screw in deck hatches front rear ” day hatch 6″ Carbon fiber skeg with self made slider control by left hand. 8″ hatches front and rear.

What is the weight of the finished kayak?
Weight 55lbs. I used 6oz. fiberglass over 6oz. carbon fiber and I used way too much epoxy resin, my fault a first time dealing with it!

Anything you wish you had done differently?
What would I do differently, use much less resin. Try to make it lighter.

Any tips you’d like to suggest to future builders?

How does the kayak perform on the water?
Performance so far- flawless! I love it. My first hard-chined kayak. It took me about 10 minutes to adjust and then it felt like I was being cradled in my mother’s arms! Turns beautifully with just a minimal edge, very stable once I got used to it.
