Nick Crowhurst - Father of Christopher

The instigator of this project. An enthusiastic paddler and builder of kayaks and sailing boats for over 50 years with a passion for sharing his knowledge. Nick died on September 9th, 2026. Christopher and PlymouthDamo continue to support the project via email, this website and downloads, as well as via the UK RIver Guidebook Sea Kayak Forum which is one of the best places to seek help with building a Shrike or Vember. 

Christopher Crowhurst - Son of Nick

Passionate about all things Greenland kayak related, including building them. Founder of Qajaq Rolls a philanthropic venture promoting Greenland style rolling. A contributor to many paddling magazines, and a mentor at many paddling events. Christopher has built over a dozen Shrikes and Vembers, including tandems.

PlymouthDamo - Friend and fellow kayak enthusiast

Builder and paddler of many Shrikes, PlymouthDamo has probably helped more people build shrikes that he's had hot dinners. Active on the Forum and afloat PlymouthDamo loves to assist people build, paddle and roll these kayaks.
