What model Shrike did you choose?
Shrike Too

What modifications, if any, did you make to the design described in the Build Manual?
Built as Shrike too, Masik moved forward and keyhole cockpit installed. Built with 3mm deck and 4mm hull as i couldnt get 3 sheets of 3mm okume. Two layers of 3oz cloth on hull and one on deck, 6oz in cockpit. Built skeg slider box out of carbon fibre and designed a different skeg box and skeg. Made a huge blunder by over sanding the the deck joint but the worst bits are covered by two NZ flag decals.

What is the weight of the finished kayak?
16.8 kg

How does the kayak perform on the water?
Fantastic! Havn’t paddled for a year but straight away felt at ease. When this kayak is on edge it’s very solid and turns nicely. Had a strong wind and the harbour channel was running out at about 3-4 knts this didn’t bother her at all, slight skeg to keep her on course but wasn’t really needed as a slight edge would keep her on course. Just waiting for some wind against outgoing tide to make some nice waves to see how it reacts. Rolling was great, cant do lay back rolls to well because of my back but no problems at all doing forward finishing rolls which i prefer, which were very easy. 😊
