What model Shrike did you choose?
Shrike Too at 95%.

What modifications, if any, did you make to the design described in the Build Manual?
Ends rounded and waterline lengthened (was unsure about the pointed ends, but my next Shrike will have them); 4 oz fiberglass on hull, then epoxy with graphite to just above chine; 4 oz glass just 40 cm behind cockpit; keyhole cockpit – length reduced 9 cm; wood beads created for shock cord and shark design drawn in front of cockpit.

What is the weight of the finished kayak?
37 lbs / 16.8 kg

Any tips you’d like to suggest to future builders?
Read the manual before starting, then read each step 1-2 times again before that step. Superglue plus accelerator works wonders for spot welding. And keep your wife happy during your preoccupation with the build.

How does the kayak perform on the water?
Pending launch as winter is setting in, and started on making the roof rack (based on http://www.blueheronkayaks.com/kayak/index.html, near bottom of page)
