I’ve finally finished the vember after it hung from the roof of my garage for 18 months waiting for me to fit the coaming.
The shrike is a few years old now and has had regular use over summers and winters. We don’t get ice in NZ so I just paddle with a sailers parka.
Unlike the shrike I put a skeg into the vember, with hatches skeg and seat she weighs 15.9kgs. Made to the standard design with western red cedar that was given to me when a friend finished building his house and was going to throw it away.
So thanks for the designs you’ve made available on line I never would have got into kayaking without the motivation you have provided with your freely available materials.
